Mission
The Euro-Guyanese Classical Music & Opera Association promotes the appreciation and performance of European classical music and opera in Guyana. The Association encourages cultural exchange between Guyana and European nations through music and the performing arts, while fostering public appreciation, music education, artistic collaboration and Guyanese participation in classical music and related art forms.
What We Do
Concerts & Performances
Organize concerts, recitals, festivals, competitions and public performances promoting classical music, opera and related art forms.
Music Education
Promote music education among children, young adults and the wider public, while supporting scholarships, bursaries and awards for promising musicians.
Cultural Exchange
Encourage cultural exchange between Guyana and European nations through music, performing arts and collaboration with local and international musicians.
Community Outreach
Provide educational outreach programmes in schools and communities while promoting music as a means of social development.
Objectives
The Association supports choirs, orchestras, chamber ensembles and opera productions while preserving and promoting European musical traditions and encouraging Guyanese artistic participation. It promotes excellence, professionalism and ethical conduct within the performing arts and seeks to establish archives, libraries and collections relating to classical music and opera. The Association also supports research, the publication of educational material, and intercultural dialogue through artistic collaboration.
